Open Church Day 2008 - St. Cystennin's

St. Cystennin's Church, the Parish church of Llangystennin opened on saturday september 6th as part of Churches Tourism Network Wales.

Event Details

A steady stream of visitors braved the wet, windy weather throughout the day, resulting in a hugely succcesful Open Day. Donations towards refreshments raised ?55 for Christian Aid.  Visitors had opportunity to chat with church members, look at church registers dating back to 1600s and share memories and photographs. Activities include stained glass picture colouring for children and an all age church trail quiz.

Visitors had opportunity to contribute to an ideas board for the Churchyard Project. This will help form an action plan to manage the churchyard, parts of which are overgrown, and encourage wildlife. Please e mail lynne at st.cystennins@btinternet.com for further information or if you would like to assist or keep in touch with progress.
