Halkyn lights go on for Christmas
To celebrate Christmas 2009 and to highlight Jesus as the Light of the World, the church of St Mary the Virgin, Halkyn has again been floodlit.
For the second year the church in Halkyn has been floodlit to remind us that Jesus is the Light of the World and to celebrate his birth. The church looks glorious when floodlit and is a beacon to all who pass at night.

Last year only the east end was lit but this year the west side of the tower has also been illuminated. The lights are switched on between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. and will come down after the Feast of Epiphany on 6th January.
For those concerned about our global footprint, the lights use about one kWatt of electricity every four hours (the amount that a small electric heater uses in an hour).
