The 2010 Refurbishment
Completed!
We have now had the joy of seeing our restoration and improvement project successfully come to completion.
The work entailed major redevelopment: pews in the nave and choir were taken out and a deep cavity dug beneath in order to accommodate the necessary insulation layer before the new under-floor heating could be installed.
New lighting has been installed and redecoration finished
The volunteers who spent many hours inspecting, scrubbing and drying some of the pews have seen them repositioned in part of the nave and a clear area, our 'open space', has been left near the font for varied planned activities, and which can, as occasion arises, be filled with chairs.
The work was finally completed at the end of June.
The first service to be held in in the reopened church was a wedding, followed the next day by a service during which three children were baptised, together with their mother. A most appropriate new beginning to the life of the church.
A special service of Thanksgiving was held on 12th July when our Bishop, the Right Reverend Andrew John performed the re-dedication ceremony. During the service the Reverend Lynda Cowan thanked all those who had worked so hard raising the money for the work to be done and for those who had carried out the work so well. The Bishop, in his address, expressed delight in the lively church here in Trefeglwys, and in turn, thanked Revd. Lynda for instigating and guiding the work of restoration. The chorch was full for this occasion, we even had to put chairs into our 'open space'.
