St Mary and St Bodfan

This Grade 1 listed building exhibits some of the finest Early English architecture. Despite substantial restoration work in 1860, it is an almost perfectly preserved 13th century building with lancet windows and arch-braced collar beams (16th century) to the chancel roof.

Notable Features

Two large pre-10th century stones, the 'Calixtus Stones', found between Barmouth and Llanaber, are now resting in the church. They are carved with Latin inscriptions: CAELIXTUS MONEDO REGI
