St Bride's Cwmdauddwr

A large Victorian Church set in an extensive graveyard. This church in its early Celtic monastic foundation was part of a number of 'clas' throughout the Elan Valley. Today it serves the village of Cwmdauddwr and the Elan valley beyond.

11.00Family Service alternating each month between St Clement's Rhayader and St Bride's.

Notable Features

Still traceable in the Churchyard just in from the East Wall can be seen some of the foundations of an earlier church to stand on this site. There is a fine metal rood screen and stone carved reredos as well as many plaques showing the ancestry of many of the local families.The church stands in a conservation area a reminder to all who visit of the glory of God's creation.


Transport

Within easy walking distance of Rhayader town centre. Walk along West Street and down the hill over the Wye bridge and you will see the church on your left hand side.
